1936 Izhevsk M1891/30
[Serial number 118924]
This rifle is a pretty typical example of a Spanish Civil War Mosin Nagant, minus a few distinct features. Perhaps the most interesting part of this rifle is that is is marked both with a "Made in USSR" mark as well as a "URRS" marking. While this isn't unheard of, this feature is far more uncommon.
Another odd feature of this rifle is that the buttstock has a small marking, painted in with white paint, that appears to be the letters and numerals "32R". It is unknown whether or not this was done here in the United States or in Spain. No other known examples like this have been reported. While it may be a rack number, the font is so small that this wouldn't seem to make too much sense.
This rifle is also a complete mismatch down to the stock, which appears to be a Tula production though the date is no longer legible. All in all this rifle is a good example of what to look for when identifying a Spanish Civil War Mosin Nagant.
