The Spanish Civil War Mosin Nagant Serial Number Database/Survey
Overview:
Since June of 2010 'mat!_SW', a fellow Spanish Civil War Mosin Nagant enthusiast and member of the Gunboards.com forum, has been compiling a list of serial numbers off of known Spanish Civil War Mosin Nagant rifles. This work has proven to be very interesting and has shed some light on the probable serial number range of M1891/30 rifles that were sent to Spain.
It is well known that a huge majority of these rifles sent to Spain were almost directly off of the production lines of the Tula and Izhevsk arsenals in 1936 and 1937. As the survey shows it appears that there is a distinct serial number range that these 1936 and 1937 Spanish marked rifles are found in. Of course it is impossible to completely determine if all of the rifles within this range were sent to Spain without doing a more general survey of 1936 and 1937 dated M1891/30's. As more rifles are added to the list this serial number range will surely become more evident.
